Jake + Katy | Evansville Lifestyle Engagement Session

I got to start my 2019 season with the sweetest, coziest, goofiest engagement session ever & my heart is sooo happy!

It’s been a minute since I’ve blogged a session but this one is just too good not to share. Especially because everyone needs to see the video that Jake used to propose to Katy on their trip to Peru last year. If your day needs a little brightening, I promise this’ll do the trick!

For two years, I filmed and collected footage of our relationship. I've knew I would eventually compile it all into a short film and use it for when I was ready to propose. After planning a trip to Peru, I thought there would be no better place than at the top of Machu Picchu. We left in late May, planning for the big hike a week or so into the trip. I carried the ring the whole trip, worried I would lose it or she would find it. The day was finally here. We hiked for nearly 8 hours, up and up and up and up... We stopped at many beautiful places along the way. I was tempted to propose at them all! I had to wait though, I couldn't propose when we still had hours of hiking ahead of us. Finally, we got to Machu Picchu! It made me feel incredibly small, which added to my nervousness. There were lots of people exploring and I was wondering how I could pull this off without attracting too much attention and giving everyone a show. We wandered for a few minutes and just took it all in. You could see the ruins stretch across. We sat down at a spot with a wonderful wide view. I said, "I have something to show you." I pulled out my phone and a set of headphones and told her to watch what I had spent so many hours making. Once it was finished, she was teary eyed and knew what I was doing. I nervously and briefly got down on one knee and asked, "Will you marry me?" And if you can believe it, NOT ONE PERSON saw this happen! SUCCESS! We celebrated and asked a few people near us to take our picture. We quickly went back to our guide, Ranaldo, to tell him the big news. He was incredibly surprised and happy for us. He mentioned that it is "very good luck" to propose in such a sacred place. I honestly couldn't imagine my proposal being any different or any less thought out. I'm just glad she loved it as much as I was anticipating! I was fortunate to have all of those memories. I will continue to collect footage throughout our lives and make more short compilations and montages. I know our relationship will be full of love and adventure.
